AquaSorp Isotherm Generator
Moisture Release Curves in one day, not weeks
A soil moisture release curve shows you the unique, soil-specific relationship between water content and water potential. Once you have this for a particular soil, you can know the water potential of the soil at any given water content, and vice-versa. This is crucial for understanding soil-plant-water relations as well as physical aspects of the soil, such as swelling characteristics and specific surface area. In the past, the process to make this curve was labor intensive and often took several days, if not weeks, to generate. The AquaSorp repeatedly increases and decreases the moisture level of the sample in a closed chamber, and plots the water content against the measured water potential, producing a highly accurate adsorption and desorption curve in just 24 or 48 hours.
The AquaSorp comes with a dedicated computer, monitor, and keyboard to operate the instrument, and comes pre-installed with the AquaSorp software.
The AquaSorp can be used for:
- Automatic generation of soil moisture release curves (soil moisture characteristics)
- Specific surface area measurement
- Studying the hysteresis effects of soil water adsorption and desorption
