What instruments are used to create the moisture characteristic curve?

Decagon's Soil Moisture Release Curve service uses UMS tensiometers and the HYPROP to produce the points for the moisture characteristic curve in the wet range, and the WP4C to produce the points for the moisture characteristic curve in the dry range.

Can I create my own moisture characteristic curve?

Of course!  In fact, Decagon has step-by-step instructions to walk you through creating a moisture characteristic curve for your soils.  But if you don't have the time or the instruments, Decagon's service provides a reliable way to get the data that you need.

What does the moisture characteristic curve package include?

When you order the moisture characteristic curve service, you'll receive the packaging to send Decagon about four liters of the soil that you would like characterized.  In about two weeks (more for international or non-typical soils), you will receive a moisture characteristic curve containing the ranges that you specify.  If you do not specify a range, we will assume that you would like a range between 0 to -2 MPa.
