Download Data Without Visiting Your Logger
The Em50R lets you download data without plugging into your data logger as long as you are within radio range*. The Em50R is a self-contained data logger built to power, read, log, and transmit data from five sensors. Logged data are transmitted via radio signal to a Decagon base station (DataStation or Rm-1). All Decagon sensors work with the Em50R; no programming is necessary.
The Em50R has been used:
- To monitor greenhouse fertigation from an office.
- To collect data from 42 logger nodes in a soil moisture variation study.
- To monitor multiple fields from a central support building.

Safeguard Your Data
Occasionally, external factors can interfere with transmission. The Em50R has a "confirm data delivery" protocol to make sure that every data transfer is correct and complete. Transmitted data is also backed up in the data logger memory to give you an extra layer of data protection.
*The Em50R uses license-free radio technology to transmit data over intermediate distances, typically 1-3 miles. Range is decreased by buildings, trees, hills, and other obstacles between the data logger and the receiver. Range can be extended (up to 5 miles, or possibly greater depending on landscape features) with careful positioning and by using well-mounted high-gain antennas.

DataStation
Collects data wirelessly from up to 80 data loggers within radio range (typically 1-3 miles). Stores 36,000 packets of data.
Rm-1
The Rm-1 is a radio modem used for real-time connection to the Em50R data loggers. The RM-1 can also be used as a repeater in the wireless system. Use the Rm-1 with to change the logger name, logger date/time, sampling interval, and ports sensors assignments. You can also use it to download logged data all remotely from the convenience of your computer.
