Replacement Sensor Block for Volatile Samples

Volatile Sensors

If you are using the Series 3 or Series 3TE to measure a sample with a high concentration of ethanol or propylene glycol, you may encounter the following problems:

The volatile vapor can contaminate the headspace in the sample     chamber, so your first sample will read correctly but subsequent     samples will not. Solution: run a sample of activated charcoal in the     AquaLab after each volatile-bearing sample to clear the chamber.

The volatile vapor can condense on the mirror and sensor. If this     occurs, follow the cleaning procedure explained in the instrument     manual.

If you consistently measure samples containing high percentages of volatiles, you will need to order a volatiles sensor block. To install, simply remove your normal chilled-mirror dewpoint block and replace it with the volatiles block. When you turn on your AquaLab, it will recognize the new block and function normally.
