Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) measurements can be used to gather more than just intercepted radiation measurements from a canopy. With a few additional variables (location, date and time, and chi values), PAR can be used to calculate leaf area index (LAI). The LP-80 Ceptometer performs these calculations automatically when taking intercepted PAR measurements. The video above walks you through how the LP-80 Ceptometer makes the LAI calculations in canopy types such as wheat crops to forests.
