Food Physicist/Engineer
Responsibilities:

• Be a resident expert in the areas of water activity measurement, water activity applications, food moisture, food thermal properties, and biophysical aspects of food safety.
• Communicate food physics measurement and application knowledge to Decagon's current and potential customers through application notes, newsletter articles, presentations and publications in scientific meetings and literature, seminars, customer visits and trade shows.
• Design and test instruments for measurement of physical properties of foods.
• Interface with customers, marketing and engineering to assure sound design of product testing instruments and protocols.
• Conduct research as necessary to investigate new instrument designs and protocols and resolve customer measurement problems.
• Provide customer service and technical support to customers as needed. Visiting customers is required.

Qualifications:

• PhD in food physics/engineering or closely related area preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of water activity, food thermal properties and related areas of food physics/engineering
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Interest and aptitude in commercial aspects of food instrumentation design and application.
• Willingness to travel as needed
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively and work effectively in a friendly team environment
