MPS-1 measurement volume Link to this post

Is the measurement volume (or region of influence) of the MPS-1 sensor similar to the measurement volume of the ECH20 or EC5 sensor?

No. The MPS-1 doesn't have a volume of influence like the EC5 or EC20. It only measures the dielectric of the ceramic disc and the water therein. Water potential is an equilibrium process in which water moves from high concentration to low. The fact that the ceramic disc is in equilibrium with the surrounding soil means that it gives you a very localized reading for water potential.
