Our thermal properties instruments make measurements easy. However, establishing an effective measurement protocol and carefully controlling important factors that affect thermal properties can be difficult and time consuming. Decagon scientists have over 40 years of experience making high quality thermal properties measurements. This is why we offer our Thermal Properties Lab Services. If you don’t have time or aren’t completely comfortable making the thermal properties measurements yourself click on the appropriate service below.

Sample size is dependent on the thermal properties of the material being tested. In general a 2cm radius of sample material around the needle(s) is sufficient for samples with thermal conductivities around 0.5 W/mK. Samples with lower conductivity (i.e. insulation) can be tested with a smaller sample size. Samples with a higher conductivity (i.e. granite) will require a larger sample to avoid boundary effects.
